An Art Affair- by SundayMorningLovesYou
February 5 @ 6:30 am - February 27 @ 9:30 am
Join us at Tapps Outpost (713 Saluda Avenue) for an exhibition of works focused on love and the human condition.
SUNDAY MORNING (@sundaymorninglovesyou) is a multi-platform artist who relocated to Columbia 3 years ago. Currently enrolled in a Social Work program at the University of South Carolina, they plan to open a publicly-funded art therapy community program in Telluride, CO.
Their education in Social Work has led to an exposure and a more intimate understanding of marginalized groups of society. SundayMorning noticed one common thread interwoven within the cosmic fabric binding each and every living being regardless of race, gender, avatar identity, or species, and that was the desire to grow a frequency of love and acceptance.
February is the month of love. Love transcends boundaries. Love is love. Highlighting and celebrating this energy during the month of February only felt appropriate to the artist. Getting to know these communities has allowed SundayMorning to realize that everyone deserves love no matter how they define it.
Sunday Morning states, “In my own personal pursuit towards self awareness, I have had difficulty navigating what has been personally perceived as a social hierarchy constructed through a constrained, conservative, conformist concept of confusion. This confusion has has been inherited, engrained, operational, and normalized in the generational traditions of the south. This exhibition is intended to challenge these traditions and offer the alternative path- love and acceptance.”
With ‘An Art Affair’, Sunday Morning is redefining these limiting constructs of social interaction through play and pop culture icons. The goal is to instigate conversation in a safe space and encourage visitors to test their emotional boundaries and challenge their own socio-normative behavior through levity.
Included amongst the celebration is Charlotte-based visual artist RELAX (@whatisrelax) who will be highlighting moral themes of integrity, inclusion, and doing the right thing. His work has been seen around Charlotte from neighborhood walls, to galleries, to billboards.
Providing an audible atmosphere will be local Columbia electro club pop producer SKOVAZ (@Skovaz) who will be performing a set of vibratory expressions primarily composed of selections from their two original albums which are available for streaming on Spotify.
