Artist in Residence Application

TI-AIR

The Tapp’s Initiative artist in residence (TI-AIR) was developed to bring contemporary artistic practice and community engagement to the Columbia/Midlands area.

Tapp’s will host 3 artists per year, and each invited participant will have full access to a private studio space for four months. Three months will be research and development, followed by a solo exhibition.

Throughout this time, the resident artist will realize a site-specific project, and invite the public to discuss and interact with the contemporary artwork during several open-gallery events.

Our mission calls for experimental, forward thinking artists with an interest in site-specificity and interactive functionality. The interactive aspect of the Tapp’s Initiative furthers an understanding of contemporary art, modes of practice, and how visual language functions in ‘building’ culture, both locally and abroad.

At the end of three months, the artist will install a month-long exhibition in the main gallery displaying their work, while utilizing the skills they develop during their residency.

The Fall Application is now available, please fill out the form below. Selected finalist will be interviewed in July and the selected artist will be announced in August for a September 1st start date.
